This year we held our first ever expo in an attempt to show a demonstration of skill at the various levels and with one theme in mind, "Parkour as a Metaphor for Life". The audio is not available in the video but some of the story still comes through without the auditory references. We would like to give a huge thank you to all of our volunteers! Without you this fun night wouldn't have been possible.
Enjoy!
Parkour is a metaphor for life - forever moving forward, one must see life's obstacles as a challenge.
As a child, we see the world from a smaller vantage point. Everything looks so big! The toddler you once were says, "How can I ever hope to walk on two legs, or climb these stairs?" And as we aged, we overcame those limitations, only to find the world had presented us with different, more varied things to overcome. Whatever you call them - "set-backs" or "problems", we are at our best if we remember that whatever is blocking our path we will one day move past with ease.
[Student falls]
Each of us has had that time in life where a problem seemed to big to conquer.
[Older students break down vault]
...It may take revisiting the smaller parts, refining the technique, or gaining that confidence and ridding ourselves of the panic on smaller versions of the problem.
[Events and story unfold]
...Then maybe, we can go back to that original problem...whatever that obstacle was that held you back.
