Well, not as an event...not yet anyway. But Parkour and Freerunning will be displayed by Parkour Generations during the ceremony for the London 2012 Summer Olympics. Parkour Generations who have spread the training of Parkour, Freerunning, and l'Art du Deplacement also performed 1 year prior to the upcoming Games at Trafalgar Square.
For those Traceur's that are used to distinguishing the difference between Parkour and Freerunning the commentary could be potentially confusing this Olympic season because Parkour Generations teaches that they are the same thing and were started by the Yamakasi.
Revolution Parkour recognizes David Belle as the founder and protector of Parkour, and that the idea to set up courses (parcours), and the method to overcome those obstacles came from Raymond Belle, David's father. In an interview of David Belle by Sebastien Foucan they discuss the origins...click here to watch it. David explains that there were many there at the beginning but it was passed down to him from his father. That is why we teach Parkour as taught by David Belle - that is where our discipline and philosophy came from.
Revolution Parkour commends Parkour Generations for getting many people off the couch and moving. They have done many great things for their community (which now is a national one).
More to come on the Olympics! Countdown: 16 Days!
