There is a new website out called JoeyAdrianTV that features instructor Joey Adrian traveling to different locations where he practices parkour, freerunning, tricking and whatever other style of movement he feels like training that day. There are a few reasons why we think this is genius!
1. Learn Subconsciously - Unlike the Truman Show, or reality tv, or whatever else comes to mind when you think of live tv you might actually learn something by watching JoeyAdrianTV. Now that might sound like a cold hard bash against reality tv, why yes...yes it was. A big part of Joey's reasoning when asked why he was doing the show was to offer tutorials so that viewers could start to process techniques through observation [paraphrased of course].
2. Train Smart - When people see parkour on YouTube or Vimeo they see a 2 minute clip that was taken over a couple days and after months or years of practice...no warm up, no progression --just performance level movements and perfected techniques. How do I train for an hour or two when I am starting out? How do I train after I have drilled and understand the techniques? How do the professionals train? Joey answers these questions through demonstrating a training hour and through a moderator on his live tv channel. It's live, so you can ask him questions as if you were training right there with him. We'll admit after watching the last few live streams that it sometimes looks like social hour with all the people training with him but he is still training hard.
3. Fun Guests - Joey does a great job of sharing the air time with others by having guests on his show. By sharing the environment with others the show is never a dull moment because there is always someone working on something! This doesn't mean that we haven't seen downtime but that is usually when Joey is petting his dog in his back yard in between playing on his flow box.
We love to watch JoeyAdrianTV either live while we are resting, eating, or warming up. Plus there is the recording that is saved on his channel in the archive to get some pointers before going out and training. And yes, we are extremely biased! Go check out JoeyAdrianTV now!
